Job summary

CGS seeks a FOIA Paralegal to support the legal mission of a large federal agency by performing legal review and FOIA request processing, alongside other litigation support tasks.

Role requires paralegal certificate or JD, with at least one year of litigation paralegal experience, and familiarity with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, LEXIS and Westlaw. Candidates must be able to obtain a government security clearance and communicate effectively.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate, JD, or ABA‑accredited law school enrollment with at least one year of study.
• At least one year of litigation paralegal experience (trial experience helpful).
• Experience with eDiscovery tools (Nuix Investigate, Relativity) and FOIA processing.
• Knowledge of FOIA rules, regulations, and exemptions.
• Strong legal citation, memos, motions, LEXIS and Westlaw proficiency.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Conduct searches and analyze results to separate non-responsive from responsive documents and screen for privilege or FOIA exemptions.
• Redact and code responsive documents.
• Perform legal research.
• Draft legal documents.
• Apply FOIA rules and exemptions as required.
• Deliver high‑quality work under extreme pressure.
• Maintain familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures.
