Advantage Health is seeking a physician to provide professional medical services in a community health center. The role covers family medicine, preventive care, and coordination with a multi-disciplinary team.

The incumbent will perform exams, interpret results, and implement treatment plans while maintaining a patient-centered approach in a community setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an AMA-accredited medical school with MD or from an AOA-accredited DO program.
• Residency training in family medicine or internal medicine completed.
• Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatric Medicine.

Under direction of the Chief Medical Officer, provides professional medical services in the community health center.

DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs physical examinations of new and existing patients and determines x-ray examinations and clinical laboratory tests required.

• Interprets examination findings and test results, and implements treatment plans.

• Prepares and reviews case histories and obtains data through interviews.

• Provides, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to the entire family unit, to include preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.

• Collaborates with other providers of Health Center patient’s outpatient and inpatient care and services.

• Participates in on-site clinical procedures according to training and demonstrated ability.

• Determines need for consultation and assists in medical care treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.

• Instructs other health care providers and non-medical personnel in a variety of health related topics, including first-aid measures, basic and advanced cardiac life support, and health care maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of the principles and practice of preventive medicine.


• Knowledge of the state and federal laws pertaining to medicine and to community health centers.


• Knowledge of the structure and function of community health centers.


• Skill in communicating effectively with patients and their families.


• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients and the public.


• Basic understanding of health clinic processes and operations. Understanding of Federally Qualified Healthcare Center (FQHC) processes and operations (preferred)


• Basic computer knowledge and skills, utilization of hardware and software

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from a college or university by the American Medical Association with a Doctor of Medicine degree or accredited by the American Osteopathic Association with Doctor of Osteopathy degree. If medical education occurred at a foreign medical school, the applicant must possess as a current Educational Foreign Medical Graduate (FCFMG) Certificate.
  
  
  
  


• Successful completion of an approved program of residency training in the specialties of family practice or internal medicine.

• State of Michigan Medical licensure


• Current DEA registration and Controlled Substances licensure


• Basic Life Support (BLS) (or within 3 months of hire)
