JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Flying Cut-Off Operator SOC CODE: 51919800

DEPARTMENT: Tube Mill SUPERVISED BY: Tube Mill Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accurately monitor lengths, tolerances, weld quality, and proper operation of Flying Cut-Off (FCO)
  • Checks and loads proper program into Order Management System
  • Adjusts sizing and Turks heads for proper tube dimensions and tolerances (Tube size, Bow, and Twist)
  • Verifies the final product is correct, prints production tag, and manages upcoming orders for efficient tube mill operation.
  • Ensures tube is removed in a timely manner to avoid unnecessary down time.
  • Give instructions to other mill workers as needed. Works seamlessly with Mill Operator for effective crew management.
  • Assist on change overs for minimal downtime between production runs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area for weekly inspections.
  • Work with Maintenance and Engineering to improve equipment operation and uptime.
  • Accurately count and verify numbers of product produced.
  • Band material for ease of transportation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to troubleshoot Mill and product issues in a methodical and efficient manner.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required. Ability to operate Fork Lift, Overhead Crane, and LOTO.

JOB HAZARD SUMMARY
  • Make sure to stay clear of all moving parts and machinery
  • Make sure all guards are on equipment before operating (includes hand tools).
  • Keep all safety barriers closed.
  • Keep clear of coil and tooling being lifted with overhead cranes.
  • Watch for moving forklifts at all times.
  • Do not handle any metal without approved gloves.
  • Do not work on die while flywheel is running.
  • Keep your work area nice and clean.
  • Never put your hands in or near pinch points.

As a Tube Mill employee you are required to follow all safety requirements and wear all proper PPE at all times. Your safety is the most important priority. These PPE’s are required to be worn daily failure to do so will result in a write up every time you are seen not wearing them.

Heavy Work Lifting 50 pounds and over with assistance frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 30 to 49 pounds
