Job summary

SpaceX in Brownsville, TX is seeking a Fluids Systems Technician (Starship) to build, install and troubleshoot fluid systems for the Starship production facility. You will provide feedback to engineers, interpret drawings, and ensure reliable operation of ground support equipment.

The role requires 3+ years with mechanical/electronics hand tools and pipe fitting/fabrication, with preference for aerospace experience and proficiency in MS Office. Occasional travel and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Connect and verify sensors and transducers; perform wiring of ground support equipment.
  • Complete high pressure liquid and pneumatic testing; troubleshoot urgent issues during activation or production.

Job description

FLUIDS SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN (STARSHIP)

The Fluids Systems Technician is responsible for building, installing, and troubleshooting fluid systems in support of the Starship production facility. Technicians play a key role in the design process by providing feedback to engineers on how the resources will be operated and maintained.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Fabricate and install fluid system components from a schematic or engineering drawing, including but not limited to:
  • Stainless steel/aluminum piping
  • Ball/check valves
  • Pressure regulators
  • Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, data sheets/manuals, drawings, blueprints, and engineering sketches
  • Adjust, repair or replace faulty components of ground hardware, test, and integration equipment
  • Connect and verify pressure transducers, thermocouples, and other sensors
  • Complete necessary wiring of the electrical ground support equipment for ground systems
  • Perform high pressure liquid and pneumatic testing
  • Troubleshoot and repair high-urgency operational issues found during activation or production usage of fluid systems
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience using mechanical and/or electronics hand tools
  • 3+ years of experience with pipe fitting and fabrication
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience working at a rocket launch facility and supporting launch campaigns
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting complex fluid and mechanical systems
  • Experience maintaining a propulsion test stand in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with orbital or structural welding
  • Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic system fabrication
  • Professional experience with calibrated measuring instruments
  • Experience using heavy equipment, including but not limited to, overhead cranes, forklifts and manlifts
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs (unassisted)
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%. Position is based in Brownsville, TX, however work at other SpaceX facilities for extended periods for similar work may be required
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts as needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required
