Job summary

Relativity Space is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to own scalable production for Terran R hardware, collaborating with design, manufacturing, and production teams. You will drive fabrication capabilities, build flows, and tooling solutions to meet demanding schedules.

You will develop and document procedures, lead cross-functional efforts, and push for continuous improvement while maintaining safety, quality, and reliability as top priorities.

Qualifications

• Experience interfacing with design engineering, manufacturing, and production personnel.
• Extensive experience managing large scope of ownership.
• Extensive experience authoring work instructions and/or test procedures for mechanical and/or fluid assemblies.
• Self-starter who can define and own a process and communicate it clearly to a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, develop, and stand up cutting-edge bending and welding work cell for AeonR and TerranR programs.
• Drive assembly first build and test efforts through DFMEA guidance, build/test work order creation, and specification authoring.
• Implement tooling solutions to streamline production and increase output while reducing complexity.
• Establish and enforce standard practices, troubleshooting guides, and repair procedures; review planning documents.
• Streamline and optimize existing production systems, identify cost-reduction opportunities, improve quality and efficiency.
• Demonstrate ingenuity and autonomy, introducing novel ideas with attention to safety, quality, and reliability.

About the Team:

The Stage Manufacturing team turns design into reality, owning the build of Terran R’s primary structures. This isn’t about turning the same bolt every day; it’s about building the systems to build the rocket. Engineers and technicians work side by side, with deep collaboration and real-time feedback, to shape how we build better and faster. About the Role:

TheTubeManufacturing teamis responsible forworking alongside the vehicle design and test teams to develophardware that enables Terran R reusability,working in a variety of processes to manufacturefluidssystems hardware forthe vehicle.The team is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to own the following scope:advocate forscalablemanufacturing inproductdesign trades and reviews,build flowplanning,large-volumepartlogistics, tooling design,conceptualizing & sourcing, fast-paced issue dispositions,and complex mechanical assemblywork planning and execution.

• Conceptualize, develop, and stand up a cutting-edge bending and welding work cell capable of meeting the demanding requirements of the AeonR and TerranR programs.
• Drive assembly first build and test efforts through design for manufacturability guidance, assembly sequencing, mBOM development, build and test work order creation, and specification authoring.
• Implement innovative tooling solutions for both new and existing products, streamlining production to support increased output while reducing operational complexity.
• Establish and enforce standard practices, troubleshooting guides, and standardized repair procedures, with a key responsibility of reviewing and approving planning documents.
• Streamline and optimize existing production systems, proactively identifying areas for cost reduction while enhancing overall quality and efficiency.
• Demonstrate ingenuity and autonomy by introducing novel ideas and implementing them with utmost attention to safety, quality, and reliability, ensuring timely completion of projects.

About You:

• Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience building and testing hardware in a manufacturing environment (may include internship experience)
• Experience interfacing with design engineering, manufacturing, and production personnel.
• Extensive experience managing large scope of ownership.
• Extensive experience authoring work instructions and/or test procedures for mechanical and/or fluid assemblies.
• Self-starter that has demonstrated the ability to define and own a process from scratch and roll out that process through clear communication to a diverse team.

Nice to haves but not required:

• Understanding of orbital tube welding (OTW), tube bending, TIG welding, metallic fabrication, assembly procedures, and tooling design.
• Strong understanding GD&T and drafting principles.
• Working knowledge of typical manufacturing execution systems and quality management systems.
• Working knowledge of rocket subsystems including structures, mechanisms, high pressure gas systems, and/or avionics.

Hiring Range:

$102,000—$156,000 USD
