Job summary

Princeton University’s PPPL seeks an Associate Fluid Systems Technician to maintain, operate, and troubleshoot cryogenic and cooling water systems, supporting NSTX-U and other lab facilities. This role works under general supervision and handles routine tasks with some independent judgment.

The position emphasizes preventive maintenance, system commissioning, documentation, and safety. A technical degree with hands-on fluid systems experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining industrial fluid systems including pumps, compressors, valves, and heat exchangers.
• Ability to read drawings, P&IDs, and instrumentations for maintenance and fault finding.
• Familiarity with safety rules and lockout/tagout practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned fluid systems per procedures, record readings, and manage normal operations.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fluid-system equipment and assist with commissioning.
• Document maintenance activities and update procedure documents as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements.
