Job summary

Rocket Lab USA is seeking a Fluid Systems Intern in Long Beach, CA to support the team by designing, building, testing, analyzing, and potentially flying critical hardware between the tanks and engine for Neutron.

You will work with mentors, apply engineering concepts to real challenges, and participate in regular progress updates and intern events during a 12-week on-site program starting May/June 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree program in an engineering, physics or math discipline and have at least one semester of school remaining post internship.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable).

As a Fluid Systems Intern based at Rocket Lab's site in Long Beach, California, you will have the opportunity to support the Fluid Systems team solve problems that impact Neutron at varying levels of urgency. This team owns all hardware between the tanks and engine, and you'll help design, build, test, analyze, and maybe even fly critical hardware.

YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE

• GPA of 3.5 or above
• 6+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)
• Experience in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and propulsion
• Computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) experience
• 3D printing experience
• Lathe Machiningexperience
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) experience
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to work full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027

COMPENSATION AND OTHER BENEFITS

• Pay Range CA: $28.00 USD Hourly
• You may be eligible for a stipend to subsidize relocation costs
