Job summary

Atlas Copco Group in New York seeks a Production/Flow Team Manager to coordinate and optimize workflow, ensure quality, solve problems, and support team development to meet objectives efficiently.

You will lead the flow team and shift leaders, deploy staff by qualifications, monitor results, and drive Lean improvements while collaborating with planning, NPI, and operations. This on-site role is based in Saugerties, NY with a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of manufacturing operations experience
  • 3+ years of managerial experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate your assigned flow team and assembly/welding department shift leaders, fostering motivation and ensuring goal achievement through workflow coordination and employee development.
  • Set and evaluate performance goals with the team, aligning efforts with AC area objectives.
  • Deploy employees based on their qualifications to leverage strengths and encourage growth.
  • Continuously monitor work results, discussing them with the team and implementing corrective measures for efficiency and quality.
  • Drive ongoing improvements within the department, focusing on personnel development and Lean principles.
  • Represent the Operations Manager in their absence and take on related tasks and responsibilities.
  • Independently lead and optimize work planning and material flows for Production Department.
  • Collaborate with operational planning, including interfaces such as Project management and New Product Introduction.
  • Ensure product delivery meets quality standards within specified time and cost constraints, maintaining alignment with manufacturing.
  • Lead work and project groups, including change meetings and special project discussions.
  • Independently plan and monitor the budget, coverage, and costs, initiating necessary corrections or optimizations.
  • Conduct capacity and space planning for manufacturing and assembly cost centers, deriving assembly sequences and modifying work plans as needed.
  • Continuously improve work methods, processes, and workflows to reduce lead time, lower costs, and maintain quality.
  • Sequence orders to ensure optimal resource utilization, performing value stream analyses for process improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor and support the resolution of quality problems and the implementation of improvements, tracking scrap costs and excess inventory.
  • Oversee costs and deadlines related to requested production aids, planning, and controlling special equipment costs.

Your role

The purpose of the Production/Flow Team Manager is to coordinate and optimize workflow processes, ensure quality standards are met, solve problems, facilitate communication, and support the professional development of team members, all to achieve the team’s objectives efficiently and effectively.

Main Responsibilities
  • Employee Management & Leadership: Lead and coordinate your assigned flow team and assembly/welding department shift leaders, fostering motivation and ensuring goal achievement through workflow coordination and employee development.
  • Goal Setting & Performance Evaluation: Collaborate with your team to establish and evaluate performance goals regularly, aligning efforts with AC area objectives.
  • Qualification-Based Deployment: Deploy employees based on their qualifications to leverage strengths and encourage growth.
  • Monitoring & Corrective Action: Continuously monitor work results, discussing them with the team and implementing corrective measures for efficiency and quality.
  • Development & Lean Principles: Drive ongoing improvements within the department, focusing on personnel development and alignment with Lean principles.
  • Managerial Representation: Assume tasks and responsibilities in the absence of the Operations Manager.
  • Independent Optimization: Independently lead and optimize work planning and material flows for Production Department.
  • Operational Coordination: Collaborate closely with operational planning, including interfaces such as Project management and New Product Introduction.
  • Quality, Time, & Cost Management: Ensure product delivery meets quality standards within specified time and cost constraints, maintaining alignment with manufacturing.
  • Leadership of Groups & Projects: Lead work and project groups, including change meetings and special project discussions.
  • Budget Planning & Monitoring: Independently plan and monitor the budget, coverage, and costs, initiating necessary corrections or optimizations.
  • Capacity & Space Planning: Conduct capacity and space planning for manufacturing and assembly cost centers, deriving assembly sequences and modifying work plans as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve work methods, processes, and workflows to reduce lead time, lower costs, and maintain quality.

To succeed, you will need

Education Level
  • Associates Degree/Bachelors Degree preferred but not required
Relevant Previous Experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations preffered
  • 3+ years‘ managerial experience preffered
Knowledge Areas/Skills
  • Experience in managing and motivating teams and in leading safety, quality and other improvment projects.
  • Demonstrated skill and achievement in implementing lean practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated skill and achievement in successfully delivering quality products on‑time.
  • Solid experience with computerized ERP programs (Encompix preffered)

  • Excellent writtten and verbal communication skills.

Salary: $90,000-$100,000/Year
