Job summary

Weis Markets in Callaway, MD is seeking a part-time Floral Associate to keep the floral department stocked and attractive while delivering friendly, helpful service to customers. You will assist with displays, pricing, and quick handling of specials and returns.

The role emphasizes merchandising, sanitation, and cooperative teamwork. Training is provided for receiving deliveries and cross-department support, with competitive hourly pay and benefits for part-time associates.

Qualifications

• Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps floral department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Smiles and greets customers. Discusses customers’ needs, makes suggestions, handles special requests and resolves customer concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
• Sets up displays and ensures floral product is fresh with correct pricing and signage. Handles spoiled or damaged product and creates arrangements on the sales floor.
• Follows merchandising guidelines to drive sales and utilize displays.
• Maintains sanitation and health standards in the department; follows cleaning schedules and proper PPE usage.
• Assists with receiving, unloading, checking-in, and storing deliveries with training provided.
• May assist in other departments as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Keeps floral department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Smiles and greets customers. Discusses customers’ needs, makes suggestions, handles special requests and resolves customer concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
• Sets up displays and ensures that floral product is always fresh and in saleable condition with correct pricing and signage. Handles spoiled or damaged product according to company procedures and standards. Creates arrangements on the sales floor to attract customers.
• Follows company guidelines for merchandising product such as advertised items and utilizes incremental displays to drive sales.
• Responsible for general sanitation in the department. Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements. Disposes of trash properly.Reviews orders of product and supplies. Minimizes loss by inspecting product upon delivery and maintaining proper refrigeration. Reports any shortages or overages to management.
• May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack if properly trained. Training provided.
• May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained. Training provided.
• Ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Responsible to continuously improve job performance.
• Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). Including but not limited to cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, company sponsored footwear, etc.
• May also be called upon to assist in other departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

Rate Of Pay And Benefits

The hourly pay for this position starts at $15.00 hr. up to $22.00 hr.
