Job summary

Brookshire Grocery Company seeks a floral associate to craft and display attractive floral and plant arrangements in-store. You’ll take orders in person, online, or by phone, and assist with events and promotions.

Responsibilities include preparing flowers, coordinating deliveries, and aiding with displays while delivering friendly customer service and maintaining a clean work area.

Maintains quality standards for floral department and ensures fresh products are properly displayed according to store standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Utilizes creativity and basic floral design knowledge to create stylish floral and plant arrangements that appeal to a variety of customers.Takes customer orders in person, online and over the phone. Schedules and participates in the delivery of floral arrangements.Prepares flowers for arrangement by clipping, hydrating, and feeding.Assists with building product displays for special events, holidays, and promotions for customer appeal and to promote sales.Orders and receives product to maintain stock on shelving and display units. Unloads trucks and verifies invoices for accuracy. Rotates product to ensure quality and freshness.Assists with customer consultations regarding price and type of floral arrangements desired from small-scale arrangements to large-scale events.Travels to off-site locations to design and set up arrangements for weddings and other special events.Provides friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and fulfilling customer requests.Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.Promotes product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong attention to detail required.Unique design aesthetic pertaining to the arrangement of flowers preferred.Basic knowledge of flowers, handling, and design techniques preferred.Basic mathematical skills for the purpose of assessing inventory, ordering, and calculating cost estimations.Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and practice proper time management.Ability to effectively communicate (in written and verbal form) with partners and customers.Ability to occasionally travel to off-site locations to make floral deliveries and set up arrangements at special events.Ability to use precision hand tools.Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives, box cutters, etc.Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.Education, Experience and Qualifications:Minimum of 16 years of age required.Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.Typically involves on-the-job training.Physical Demands:Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.Continuously required to stand or walk.Continuously required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.Continuously required to use fine finger movements.Frequently required to talk and hear.Frequently required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 40 lbs.Occasionally required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 lbs.Occasionally required to bend, kneel or squat.Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop or crawl.Attendance at work is required.Work Context and Environment:Work is generally performed in a retail store with occasional visits to off-site venues.Occasionally exposed to extreme cold conditions (non-weather).Occasionally exposed to wet, slippery or damp conditions.Occasionally exposed to outside temperatures and weather.Occasionally exposed to cleaning agents.Occasionally exposed to heights.Quiet to moderate noise level.Ready to find your place?
