Hen House, part of the Balls Food Stores family, is seeking an energetic Floral Clerk to join our team in Prairie Village, Kansas. You will craft displays, maintain fresh flowers, and help guests find the perfect arrangements for everyday moments and special occasions.

This role emphasizes hands-on work, attention to presentation, and teamwork. You’ll collaborate with teammates, manage stock, and ensure clean, organized floral areas while delivering friendly guest service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Experience in retail or floral environments preferred.
• Ability to create basic floral displays or gift arrangements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, helpful guest service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
• Receive, condition, and arrange floral products for attractive displays.
• Create, maintain, and refresh floral displays and arrangements.
• Monitor water levels and cooler conditions to ensure freshness.
• Stock, rotate, and face products using FIFO methods.
• Assist guests with selections, custom orders, and care tips.
• Maintain pricing, signage, and labeling accurately.
• Monitor inventory and communicate needs to leadership.
• Keep floral area clean, organized and safe.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and product handling standards.
• Develop knowledge of floral products and care.
• Communicate with teammates and vendors to support operations.
• Collaborate across departments to enhance store presentation.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and backstock organization.
• Remain productive during slower periods with restocking and refreshing displays.

Key Responsibilities & Job Duties

• Provide friendly, helpful, and respectful guest service at all times to ensure a positive shopping experience and encourage repeat visits
• Receive, condition, and arrange floral products to create attractive displays and maintain freshness
• Create, maintain, and refresh floral displays, bouquets, and seasonal arrangements
• Monitor water levels and cooler conditions to ensure high-quality floral offerings
• Stock, rotate, and face products using FIFO methods to maintain freshness and minimize waste
• Assist guests with floral selections, custom arrangements, special orders, and care tips
• Maintain accurate pricing, signage, and product labeling
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate low, excess, or damaged items to department leadership to support product availability
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe floral area, including prep and display spaces
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and product handling standards
• Develop and maintain knowledge of floral products, seasonal offerings, and care instructions to better assist guests and drive sales
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with teammates, leadership, and vendors to support efficient operations
• Collaborate across departments to support overall store presentation and guest satisfaction
• Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing backstock
• Remain productive during slower periods by cleaning, restocking, or refreshing displays
• Other job duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
• Required: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Preferred: Experience in retail, grocery, or customer service environments
• Preferred: Experience working with flowers, plants, or basic floral design
• Preferred: Knowledge of plant care and maintenance
• Preferred: Ability to create basic floral arrangements or gift displays
