Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center in Portsmouth, VA seeks a full-time housekeeping/maintenance assistant to keep the facility clean, sanitary, and safe for residents, staff and visitors. You will follow established cleaning protocols and use approved equipment to support daily operations.
Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, trash removal, window and surface cleaning, setting up meeting rooms, restocking supplies, and assisting with emergency sanitation.
Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7‑17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges. The center is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities, and is licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. It is a TRICARE®‑approved and certified facility.
Maintains the facility in a clean, sanitary, orderly and attractive condition to provide a suitable environment for residents, staff and visitors.
Must possess knowledge of and ability to use cleaning equipment and compounds; ability to operate all cleaning equipment; to follow written and oral instructions. An individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities, who are otherwise qualified, to perform the essential functions.
High school graduate, GED or equivalent experience.
One or more year’s housekeeping experience preferred.
Requires physical exertion and flexibility to stoop, climb, lift weight in excess of 30 lbs.; good hearing and vision; mobility and dexterity in both arms to operate tools; exposed to all weather conditions and temperatures.
