Job summary

PCSI is seeking a Floor Tech in El Paso, TX. You will maintain hard surface floors by buffing, stripping, and refinishing, and also clean baseboards, corners, and doors. The position reports to the project manager and is based at El Paso, Texas.

Typical hours run from September through January 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM, with morning or afternoon shifts the rest of the year. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, a 401k with matching up to 6%, and base pay of $18.96/hr depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year prior experience as a janitor or custodian is preferred.
• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and understand service requests and cleaning directions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hard surface floors by buffing, stripping, and refinishing floors.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets to remove dirt and stains.
• Wipe down doors, furniture, vent covers, and equipment as needed.
• Follow all facility safety policies and procedures and comply with regulations.

Perform finishing techniques to protect floors. This position will report to the project manager and is based at El Paso, Texas.

Typical work hours will be September through January 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM. For the remainder of the year, outside of the specified period, the employee works a morning or afternoon shift.

What You’ll Do As a Floor Tech

• Maintain hard surface floors by buffing, stripping, and refinishing floors. Clean baseboards, corners, and doors. Perform finishing techniques to protect floors.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets to remove dirt and stains.
• Wipe down doors, furniture, vent covers, and equipment as needed.
• Perform special cleaning assignments; determine appropriate cleaning chemical used to clean various surfaces such as vinyl, paint, ceramic; concrete, carpet, metal, brick, wood, and cork surfaces.
• Maintain floor care equipment to include minor repairs and adequate chemical supplies needed to complete tasks.
• Read and fully understand the “Material Safety Data Sheets” (MSDS) for all chemicals and solutions used in processes and procedures.
• Follow all facility safety policies and procedures and comply with City, State, and Federal agency requirements.

Other Requirements

• Ability to use general cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, pails, buffers, vacuums, fans, etc., as outlined in procedures to ensure proper usage and safety.
• Ability to read and understand service requests, container labels, product information, and directions on cleaning chemicals and other materials.
• Ability to work as a team member and independently to complete daily tasks.
• Ability to assist and communicate with others as needed and establish effective working relationships.
• Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
• Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
• Ability to move about the facility approximately 90% of the time during working hours.
• Ability to be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors, as well as cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
• If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
