Job summary

Southern Cleaning Services in Roopville, Georgia, is seeking a reliable janitorial associate to maintain clean facilities and support event setups. The role focuses on floor care, restroom sanitation, and general cleaning duties across multiple sites.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, carpet care, window cleaning, and safe handling of cleaning chemicals. This is a full-time, temporary position requiring physical stamina and adherence to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and vacuuming.
• Care for different floor types by hand and/or power equipment.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Mix water and detergents or acids to prepare cleaning solutions.
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies using hand trucks.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass partitions with cleaners and squeegees.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Clean laboratory equipment using solvents, brushes, and power cleaning equipment.
• Monitor building security by locking doors after hours and checking electrical use for hazards.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building systems.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using snow melting chemicals.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance.
• Set up decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for events.
• Job assignments can vary from facility to facility with possible transfers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and vacuuming.
• Care for different types of floors (including but not limited to carpet, tile, VCT, wood) by hand and/or use of power equipment.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.

• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.

• Clean laboratory equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.

• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.

• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, by spreading snow melting chemicals.

• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.

• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as sporting events, banquets and meetings.
• Job assignments can vary from facility to facility with the possibility of transfer.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIORNMENT

The employee may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. including AIDS and Hepatitis B Virus. The noise level is usually moderate. Reviews will be conducted on a 90 day, 6 month and annual basis the first year of employment.
