Job summary

Mission Community Hospital is looking for Floor Technicians responsible for the maintenance of hard surfaces and carpets throughout the facility. Duties include stripping, waxing, and cleaning floors in patient rooms and other public areas. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, a Fire Card, and at least six months of related experience.

Responsibilities also involve maintaining safety standards and communicating effectively with management. The role requires team cooperation and safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Job description

Floor Technicians are generally responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, & bonneting) of areas that include offices, patient rooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas, such as cafeterias. Other required housekeeping duties may be assigned by the Floor Tech lead and Department Manager. Employees in this job classification will maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff by utilizing available resources and their maintenance skills.

Major Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance duties related to the hospital grounds, i.e. buffing, cleaning, stripping, and waxing floors.
• Capable of performing carpet maintenance such as cleaning, shampooing, bonneting, extraction, etc.
• Assist in repair and maintenance tasks.
• Operate and maintain all floor cleaning/finishing equipment to include but not limited to floor buffer/burnisher, water extraction machine, and carpet cleaning equipment.
• Handle all chemicals following proper infection control policies and proper PPE use.
• Maintain floor care equipment.

Communication

• Always maintain effective communication with department management and teams.
• Manage the workflow daily and help technicians with their orders and projects.
• Provide cleaning services and tile/carpet floor maintenance with consideration of patients, their families, and friends, respecting their personal dignity.

Safety and Team Building

• Help develop an attitude for team building and cooperation within the facility.
• Perform duties in a safe, functional, and effective manner that reduces hazards and risks, prevents accidents and injuries, and maintains safe conditions by adhering to established safety standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean, secure environment for staff and customers as evident by Safety and Infection Surveillance reports and analysis of Departmental Incident Reports; observations by Administrative Team.
• Accept on‑call schedule and perform other duties as assigned.
