Job summary

Crate & Barrel is seeking a Floor Manager for our distribution center in Illinois to oversee daily operations and staffing. You will lead labor planning, monitor productivity, and ensure safe, efficient flow of goods from inbound to outbound.

You will participate in hiring, train staff, supervise a team, and drive continuous improvements while modeling safety programs and cross‑functional collaboration in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with distribution center operations and supervision.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage staffing to budgets.
• Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Google apps.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage labor plans and staffing levels per budgets for overtime, FT, and temporary labor
• Ensure productivity measurement standards are met
• Identify and resolve distribution issues for inbound/outbound processes
• Implement improvements for operational flows and reassign staff as necessary
• Create an environment that fosters open and positive team communication
• Facilitate team meetings
• Participate in interviewing and hiring for distribution center associates
• Ensure staff are properly trained
• Support all efforts and initiatives across the operation
• Perform safety observations and coach associates on safety procedures
• Lead root cause investigations of safety incidents
• Role model OSHA guidelines and safety programs
• Oversee and implement company safety guidelines
• Serve as backup for other floor managers as needed
• Participate in ongoing training regarding technology upgrades

A day in the life as a Floor Manager...

• Manages effective labor plans to ensure proper staffing levels according to budgets for overtime, full-time and temporary labor
• Ensures productivity measurement standards are met
• Identifies and resolves critical distribution issues for inbound and outbound processes
• Implements improvements for operational flows and reassigns staff as necessary
• Creates an environment that fosters open and positive team communication
• Facilitates team meetings
• Participates in the interviewing and hiring process for distribution center associates
• Responsible for ensuring staff are properly trained
• Supports all efforts and initiatives across the operation
• Performs safety observations in conjunction with job observations to coach and counsel associates on proper safety procedures
• Leads investigations for safety incidents and injuries by performing root cause analysis to remove future potential safety hazards
• Plays an active role in the participation of all safety programs and acts as a role model for all associates.
• Oversees and implements company and OSHA guidelines and programs to contribute to a safe working environment for all associates
• Serves a backup for other floor managers as necessary
• Participates in ongoing training regarding technology upgrades and new systems applicable to the position
