Job summary

Jetro / Restaurant Depot in Newport News, VA is seeking a Floor Manager to lead the Floor department, supervise staff, maintain stock, pricing, and customer service excellence. You will coordinate receiving, inventory, and HACCP compliance while ensuring clean, organized aisles and efficient operations.

The role requires strong leadership, scheduling, and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with large customers and training new employees. This is a full-time on-site position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience in customer service.
• High School Diploma or GED with at least 4 years in customer service.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials.

Responsibilities

• Develops schedules and monitors performance; disciplines as appropriate.
• Provide excellent customer service and develop relationships with large customers.
• Supervises Floor staff to ensure shelves are stocked and merchandise rotated.
• Trains employees in responsibilities and safe operating procedures (SOPs).
• Interviews candidates and recommends hires.
• Ensure HACCP compliance and conduct HACCP audits.
• Review inventory daily to manage rotation and shrinkage.
• Maintain accurate pricing reflecting current pricing and market conditions.
• Oversee product receiving and associated paperwork.
• Conduct regular physical inventories and adjust records accordingly.
• Order products to maintain competitive pricing and avoid spoilage.
• Coordinate pallet storage with proper block and date tags.
• Maintain cleanliness and regular maintenance of the floor area.
• Communicate low stock information to Inventory Controller.
• Ensure signage reflects current flyers and prices.
• Merchandise aisles and create impulse displays.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Conduct weekly perishable department self-audits.
• Work variable schedules including opening or closing shifts.

Position Title:Floor Manager

Department:Floor

Supervisor:Assistant Branch Manager/Branch Manager

FLSA:Exempt

Position Summary:

Responsible for receiving product and ensures that aisles are stocked, labeled, clean and delivered product is packed out, and proper customer service is provided.

Essential Functions:

1. Ensure proper customer service and works to develop relationships with large customers.
2. Supervises and works alongside Assistant Floor Manager, Floor Supervisors and Stockers to assure that shelves are stocked and merchandise is rotated.
3. Develops schedules, monitors performance and recommends the proper discipline as appropriate.
4. Trains employees in job responsibilities and safe operating procedures
5. Interviews candidates and recommends for hires.
6. Ensures that employees are performing the proper inspections to meet HACCP regulations as well as conducting periodic HACCP audits.
7. Reviews inventory for product rotation on a daily basis to prevent shrinkage and damages.
8. Ensures that shelf pricing is correct and reflects the most recent pricing and market conditions.
9. Supervises the receiving of products and ensures that the proper paperwork is completed.
10. Maintains accurate computer inventory levels by having physical inventories performed on a regular basis and adjustments made.
11. Supervises the ordering of products from vendors on a regular basis to assure we have competitive pricing and minimal shrink due to spoilage and not have too much inventory on hand.
12. Coordinates that the pallets stored in the racks have the proper block and date tags.
13. Follows program to maintain the cleanliness of the area by a regular maintenance schedule of scrubbing, and pulling out pallets and cleaning underneath.
14. Insures that excess inventory not slotted on floor is stacked in overhead racks in close proximity to where it is sold or stored in freezers/refrigerators.
15. Assures that trash is removed from floor and properly handled.
16. Makes sure that low stock/out of stock information is communicated to the Inventory Controller after carefully checking the system and rack for product.
17. Ensures that all signage is correct and that the flyers’ prices are reflected on the product.
18. Coordinates proper merchandising of aisles (logical adjacencies, proper holding power, space allocation) and creatively merchandises and sets up impulse areas for merchandising.
19. Performs additional duties, responsibilities and projects as assigned.
20. Performs weekly self audits on the perishable department.
21. Works different schedules as required.May be required to start before store opening and/or start later in order to close store and prepare for next business day.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

1. Bachelor’s Degree, OR
2. High School Diploma or GED with at least 4 years experience in customer service, OR
3. Any appropriate combination of education and experience.
4. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
5. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and general public
6. Ability to calculate figures, and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, mass and volume.
7. Effective oral and written communication skills.
8. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situation and documentation.
