Job summary

Axis Energy Services, LLC. Snyder, TX is seeking a Floor Hand to join a 4-5 person workover rig crew on a well service rig.

You will assist in rigging up and down, handle tubing and casing, and support the Rig Supervisor while prioritizing safety and customer expectations. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, basic oilfield experience, at least one year on a rig floor, a valid driver's license, and ability to work long shifts in varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent is preferred.
  • Basic oilfield well servicing experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) year rig floor operation experience.
  • Valid state issued driver license with acceptable motor vehicle records (MVR).
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written in English.
  • Must be able to work a varied rotational schedule and travel as job requires.
  • Work may be performed in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the operator in rigging up and down, lining up the well service rig with the well.
  • Set hydraulic jacks, handles pads/boards and assists in attaching the guy wires to the anchor.
  • Operate rod wrenches, tongs, elevators and other associated rig tools and equipment during well servicing operations.
  • Assist in picking up or laying down tubing, manually lifting the tubing from the rack onto the work floor or vice versa.
  • Maintain tubing, rod tongs and hand tools on the rig.
  • Dismantle and repair oil field machinery using hand tools and power tools.
  • Clean up spills.
  • Keep pipe deck and main deck areas orderly.
  • Report safety hazards, incidents or maintenance issues to the Rig Supervisor.
  • Ensure work complies with policies and safety regulations.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Long periods of standing and sitting; work long hours if necessary.
  • Perform duties with protective equipment and in hazardous environments.
  • Interact with others in a team environment.
  • Work in fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

Job description

***This job has preference to qualified local job seekers within 60 miles of our Axis Snyder, TX facility.

The Floor Hand position is part of a 4-5 person workover rig crew on a well service rig, who are responsible for performing services on oil and gas wells requested by the customers of Axis Energy Services. The primary responsibilities of a Floor Hand include but are not limited to assisting in rigging up and rigging down, pulling and laying down rods, tubing and casing, and other functions specified by the Rig Supervisor or other designated individual. All duties are performed in a specified fashion to maximize the safety of the entire crew while meeting customer expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Assists the operator in rigging up and down, lining up the well service rig with the well.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent is preferred.
  • Basic oilfield well servicing experience;
  • A minimum of one (1) year rig floor operation experience.
  • Valid state issued driver license with acceptable motor vehicle records (MVR).
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written in English.
  • Must be able to work a varied rotational schedule and travel as job requires.
  • Work may be performed in all weather conditions.
  • Mobility, including entering confined spaces, enter areas by the use of ladders or other access devices; ability to bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl and walk.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Long periods of standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching or similar activities may be necessary
  • Able to perform duties with protective equipment, H2S respirator where required; potential hazards include working near or with heavy tools and moving machinery
  • Ability to interact with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Basic problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Reliable telephone (cell phone) communication and transportation.
  • Able to clear pre-employment drug/alcohol and job-relevant screens

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position.   • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; team lift up to 100 lbs. when required.
  • Stand up to 8 hours and walk up to 4 hours per shift while performing rig operations and related field duties.
  • Constantly climb, including ladders and derrick structures up to 50 feet, and perform elevated work on the tubing board, rod basket, and related rig components.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and handle rig tools, tubing elevators, hand tools, and other workover rig equipment.
  • Demonstrate grip strength of approximately 80-100 lbs. per hand for safe tool handling and rig-related tasks.
  • Use occasional fine motor skills for hand tools, equipment checks, and related rig support tasks.
  • Work outdoors in field environments, including exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, heavy tools, moving machinery, and oil and gas wellsite conditions.
  • Wear required PPE and maintain adequate vision and hearing to safely communicate and perform work in hazardous field environments.
  • Work typical 12-hour shifts on a 14/7 rotation schedule, with travel up to approximately 75% based on operational needs.
