Job summary

Ohio Living is seeking a Floor Care Associate to perform daily floor care in resident living and recreational areas, ensuring clean, safe, and comfortable environments in our retirement community.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: One year in housekeeping preferred.
• Knowledge of floor types and appropriate cleaning materials/equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily floor care with nursing staff.
• Clean floors, baseboards, carpets, and bathrooms to high standards.
• Ensure supplies are stocked and equipment is in good working order.
• Dust furniture and fixtures; replace liners in waste cans.
• Report damages or needed repairs.
• Maintain records according to standards.
• Attend meetings and in-service trainings.

The Floor Care Associate performs the day‑to‑day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with company standards and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure that the retirement community is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Essential Activities and Tasks

Operations Management - 75%

• Coordinates daily floor care services with nursing staff when performing routine floor care assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
• Cleans all floors and baseboards by disinfecting, sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, waxing, buffing, etc.
• Cleans carpets and carpeted stairways by vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
• Actively and consistently cleans spots and spills from carpet daily as needed and reports any floor care in need of shampooing, stripping, or refinishing to supervisor.
• Ensures that an adequate supply of floor care supplies is maintained.
• Dusts furniture, tables, window ledges, lights, beds, high pipes, and other dusting.
• Empties, cleans, and replaces liners in waste cans daily.
• Cleans, washes, and disinfects bathroom sinks, toilets, tubs, showers, and floors, and polishes chrome bathroom fixtures.
• Spot cleans all walls, doors, table tops, windows, floors, and registers.
• Cleans vacant rooms as assigned.
• Ensures that work/assignment areas are clean (i.e. cart, car, and/or closet for supplies) and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are in proper working order.

Quality, Compliance, and Risk Management - 10%

• Reports any damage or repairs to facilities, supplies, or equipment needing done to the supervisor.
• Willingly and consistently shares observations and insights of departmental operations that may improve quality and efficiencies of department.
• Attends all‑employee and departmental meetings and in‑service training as scheduled or as directed.

Care Management and Service Delivery - 10%

• Listens and responds to resident, client, and staff member needs.
• Honors resident personal and property rights when performing housekeeping duties.

Administration and Reporting - 5%

• Maintains current and accurate records through use of computers and/or other documentation in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience One year experience in housekeeping preferred.
• Knowledge with care of various types of floors and the respective appropriate cleaning materials and equipment to use preferred.

Other Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
