Job summary

Qualifications

• POST preferred qualification.
• One year of law enforcement experience.
• Every 30 semester hours earned substitutes for one year of required experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Current Louisiana driver's license.
• POST certification may be required.
• Felony conviction or indictment disqualifies.

Responsibilities

• Patrol an assigned area on foot or in a vehicle to detect and prevent crime.
• Inspect and report on the condition of levees, floodwalls, gates, and related infrastructure.
• Assist NOPD with crowd control during Mardi Gras and large events; provide backup as needed.
• Attend classes and training sessions to maintain law enforcement skills and stay current with laws.
• Escort SLFPA-E staff, trucks and equipment; provide security during emergencies and restrict access to authorized personnel.
