Job summary

Leonard Truck Outfitters in Virginia Beach is seeking a spray-in bedliner technician to prepare truck bed surfaces, mask off areas, mix materials, and apply coating with precision.

You will perform quality checks, maintain spray equipment, follow safety protocols, interact with customers, and travel about 50% of the time across the market area.

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality and consistent results.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare truck bed surfaces and masking areas to ensure proper coating.
  • Mix bedliner materials according to guidelines and apply evenly with spray equipment.
  • Perform quality control and touch-ups for a smooth finish.
  • Maintain and clean spray equipment; follow safety protocols and PPE usage.
  • Interact with customers and address questions about the process and benefits.
  • Keep accurate records of projects and customer details.
  • Travel approximately 50% within the designated market area.

Job description

  • Surface Preparation: Thoroughly clean and prepare the truck bed surface to ensure proper adhesion of the spray-in bedliner material. This may involve removing any existing coatings, rust, dirt, and debris.
  • Masking and Taping: Use masking materials and tapes to cover areas of the vehicle that should not receive the bedliner coating, such as the vehicle's exterior or any sensitive components.
  • Mixing Materials: Properly mix the spray-in bedliner material according to the manufacturer's guidelines to achieve the desired consistency and ensureoptimalperformance.
  • Application of Bedliner: Apply the spray-in bedliner material evenly and accurately to the truck bed using specialized spray equipment. Pay close attention to achieve uniform thickness and coverage.
  • Quality Control: Inspect the completed bedliner application for any imperfections, ensuring a smooth and consistent finish. Make necessary adjustments and touch-ups asrequired.
  • Equipment Maintenance:Maintainand clean the spray equipment regularly to ensure itoperatesefficiently and safely.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines while working with spray-in bedliner materials and equipment, including wearingappropriate personalprotective equipment (PPE) and working in well-ventilated areas.
  • Customer Interaction: Interact with customers, addressing any questions or concerns they may have about the spray-in bedliner process and its benefits.
  • Record Keeping: Keepaccuraterecords of completed projects, customer details, and any specific customization requests.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about advancements in bedliner materials, application techniques, and industry trends to enhance skills and knowledge.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a spray-in bedliner technician or in a related field isadvantageousbut notrequired. Training may be provided on the job.
  • Knowledge of spray-in bedliner materials and application processes is desirable.
