Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse for the FLEX Pool at the Smithfield hospital campus. You will provide competent nursing care, coordinate patient care using the nursing process, and report to the Nurse Manager/Director.

The FLEX Department offers floating assignments across Smithfield, Clayton, and Hospice House, with 12-hour shifts and mandatory weekend/holiday work. Qualifications include graduation from a nursing program and North Carolina RN licensure with BLS; one year of nursing

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.

Responsibilities

• Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes; participates in evaluation with interdisciplinary team.
• Implementation - Provides competent nursing care for patients with complex needs and ensures safety and continuity of care.
• Leadership - Supports unit goals, collaborates with team, and promotes cost-effective care.
• Patient Assessment - Assesses physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs and plans accordingly.
• Planning - Collaborates with patient/family to update the plan of care and utilizes multidisciplinary resources.
• Research - Peruses journals for applicability to practice.
