Job summary

Grand Central Bakery seeks an Assistant Café Manager to lead café operations, coach and train teams, and serve as a reliable Person-in-Charge (PIC) to ensure exceptional products and customer service across Seattle-area cafés.

This is a floating role that supports multiple locations; schedule requires Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday and at least five shifts weekly, including openings, mids and closings; benefits include union alignment under UFCW 3000 terms.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Valid Food Handler's Card at all times.
• Must be able to demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality.
• Basic math skills.
• 2+ years’ experience in café/restaurant/coffee shop, leadership preferred.
• Ability to provide outstanding customer service at all times.

Responsibilities

• Leads teams to deliver excellent customer service following the 3 steps to great service.
• Motivates the team; contributes ideas; solutions oriented.
• Assumes Café Manager role in their absence.
• Coaches in the moment and communicates coaching notes to Café Manager.
• Troubleshoots café operations and knows who/where to go for problems.
• Communicates with café team and filters questions to the Café Manager.
• Assists in hiring and trains new Café Team Members on menu, service, and POS.
• Ensures food safety and maintains GCB standards.
