Job description

From humble roots in 1990, Magical Beginnings has always had a vision to provide a nurturing, constructive and education-first environment for young children. Today, the Magical Beginnings’ schools are an award-winning collection of Early Childhood Education Centers serving communities and families in Massachusetts.

We are hiring a Floating Teacher to support in our Peabody school. This role provides support to classrooms throughout the school. It is an integral part of our staff, helping our program run smoothly while providing top‑notch child care and collaborating with likeminded teachers. It requires a creative, positive, and engaging team player who is flexible and eager to jump in to support.

Qualifications
  • EEC Teacher Certification (any age group), CDA, or equivalent degree and experience (preferred, not required)
  • Daycare experience in a center-based or private school setting
  • An engaging and energetic demeanor and a love for helping young children meet and exceed their developmental goals
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday afternoons, between the hours of 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time on the floor with the children
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand up to 90% of the workday
  • Attentiveness, strong time management, and a team-focused mindset
Responsibilities
  • Providing substitute coverage when Teachers are either out sick, completing planning time, in need of a bathroom break, lunch break, or any other coverage throughout the day.
  • Assisting Classroom Teachers with the routine opening/closing of the classroom, including but not limited to wiping down the toys, cleaning the tables, vacuuming the room, sanitizing the room (after all children have left), and overall preparation of the classroom for the next morning.
  • Providing classroom assistance to support teachers as needed throughout the day, including but not limited to preparing materials for classroom lesson plans, engaging with students in free play, assisting with daily projects, supervising/zoning during outdoor time, helping with bathroom needs and diapering, snack and lunch time assistance (heating up lunches, cutting up food, helping open containers, supervision), naptime assistance, etc.
  • Adhering to the daily classroom schedule while assisting teachers.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the school throughout the day including, but not limited to, cleaning staff kitchen areas, lobbies, staff and classroom bathrooms, using the zono-machine (if applicable to your school), emptying trash and disposing in dumpster, assist with laundry and organizing/putting away nap mats.
  • Encouraging children's participation by providing age-appropriate interactive activities.
  • Maintaining EEC required professional development hours and PQ registry.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings.
  • Creating a fun and safe learning environment.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents.
