Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking skilled Staff Nurses for the Nursing Float Pool (Tier 3) to cover Adult Acute Care Services across the University Campus, Downtown Campus and North Liberty Campus. These nurses will circulate between units, with alternating day shifts and 50%–90% time commitments.

The role requires 2+ years in Adult Acute Care, Iowa nursing license, and an Associate or higher nursing degree. A sign-on incentive up to $12,500 is offered.

Qualifications

• 2 or more years of current experience with Adult Acute Care is required
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
• An Associate’s Degree in Nursing or higher is required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• General computer skills including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

• Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness
• Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations
• Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings
• Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychosocial factors
• Implements patient care plan and documents interventions and patient/family responses
• Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into the multidisciplinary plan
• Develops and implements transfer/discharge planning
• Follows unit policies to maintain a safe environment
• Preschedules assignments to cover vacancies and FMLAs
• Floats between MCU & MCD campuses
• Complies with weekend/holiday scheduling as needed
