Job summary

One Medical is hiring a Float Phlebotomist/Administrative Assistant in New York to combine frontline patient care with essential office support. You’ll perform venipuncture, assist providers, and serve as the first point of contact for patients while maintaining a welcoming, organized lobby.

In this flex/float role, you’ll support multiple offices, including Meatpacking W 14th St, Morgan Stanley locations, and cover routine front-desk duties, scheduling, insurance verification and lab tasks.

Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of training/externship.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and software.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, including remote collaboration.
  • Demonstrated confidence during specimen collection and compassionate patient care.
  • Adaptability and willingness to respond quickly to changing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Use CI-CARE framework to ensure a positive in-office experience, manage scheduling, billing and outreach.
  • Provide venipuncture services for a patient range from pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Perform extended scope duties including non-blood collection, EKGs and vitals.
  • Label, handle, process specimens, manage inventory and sterilize tools.
  • Answer patient messages and assist providers with clerical tasks and DOH reporting.
  • Handle front-of-house duties: check-in/out, insurance verification, paperwork.
  • Contribute to team development through huddles and cross-office coverage as needed.
  • Open/close the office, restock supplies and maintain a welcoming environment.
  • Master Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral and EMR systems.

The Opportunity

As a One Medical Float Phlebotomist/Administrative Assistant at one of our offices, you’ll provide an exceptional experience for our patients and help them accomplish an important part of their care journey by providing venipuncture as well as other clinical support services. You will be an ambassador for patients, with a mastery of human connection and a strong drive for service. Your role involves removing barriers to care, ensuring a truly exceptional in‑office patient experience, stewarding the look and feel of the office lobby, and acting as the first point of contact for patients. You will also provide support as requested by the Practice Coordinator, Operations Manager, or providers. Our Flex Lab Services Specialist/Member Support Specialist supports multiple offices in a Market.

You combine excellent specimen collection technique with tactful interpersonal skills during every interaction with patients at both the front desk and in the lab. What You’ll Likely Work On
  • Use impeccable C‑I‑CARE framework in all patient interactions, ensuring a fluid and positive in‑office experience through patient intake, same‑day schedule management, appropriate follow‑up scheduling, billing and insurance knowledge, monitoring patient feedback, and assisting with outreach.
  • Provide best‑in‑class venipuncture services to a population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Perform and assist with extended scope duties such as non‑blood specimen collection, EKGs and vitals.
  • Maintain high standards of in‑office care through proper specimen labeling, handling and processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization.
  • Continue to care for members beyond the lab room by answering patient messages, following up on lab cases, and assisting providers and virtual medical team with clerical duties such as biometric screening forms, medical record review, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting.
  • Perform all front‑of‑house duties including check‑in/check‑out, insurance verification, printing and paperwork tasks, prepting tests, and meeting service level expectations.
  • Contribute to team development through rounding, attending team huddles, participating in problem‑solving, and supporting in‑office providers with ad‑hoc asks.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, daily office upkeep, restocking supplies, and organization, while maintaining the look and feel of patient and employee spaces.
  • Master our technology suite including Slack, G‑suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral, and our Electronic Medical Record System.

What You’ll Need
  • At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment.
  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships and deliver customer‑centric solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer technology such as typing, navigating the internet, and using multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multidisciplinary teams (remote team experience a plus).
  • A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human‑centered care.
  • A proven track record of persisting through change, consistently stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly and effectively when faced with new situations or tasks.

The range for this role is $25.75 to $27.75 per hour based on a standard full‑time schedule. Total compensation packages may be based on factors unique to particular candidates, such as skill sets, depth of experience, and work location. This is a full‑time role (40 hours/week) with 8‑hour shifts generally taking place Monday‑Friday between 7:30 am–7:00 pm based in the Meatpacking W 14th St office location in New York, NY. In this flex/float role, you would also provide coverage to the Morgan Stanley New York Plaza and Morgan Stanley Purchase office locations as needed.
