Job summary

Missouri Baptist Medical Center is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to join the Float Pool team. You will provide direct patient care under supervision, assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, and support the nursing staff across multiple units.

The role requires a CNA certification (or equivalent) and a high school diploma. Night shift hours are 7:00pm to 7:00am, with full-time benefits and weekend rotation as part of the hospital’s staffing plan.

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
• No prior experience required.
• Direct patient care under supervision of licensed nurses.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under supervision, assists with ADLs, takes vital signs, I&O, fall and pressure ulcer prevention.
• Collects clinical data and reports status changes to the nurse.
• Assists with patient and family education; documents care activities with medical terminology; acts as a 1:1 sitter as needed.
• Ensures supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participates in patient safety, quality, and regulatory activities; engages in professional development.

The Patient Care Resource Team (Float Pool) is a team of highly skilled and experienced Staff Nurses and Patient Care Technicians who are flexible and versatile while supporting various areas within the hospital.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care to support the licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients to ensure a safe environment for patients by reducing risk of harm. Collects vital information on the patient and reports such to the nursing team which contributes to the overall assessment of each patient and any changes to a patient's condition.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), performs vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point of care testing as requested.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
