Job summary

Honda Aircraft Company is seeking a Flight Test Telemetry Technician to maintain the telemetry link between the flight test article and the ground station. The role involves planning telemetry frequencies licenses, supporting TM room and TM Van during test flights, and reviewing flight data after each mission.

Candidates should have an Associate degree or Technical Diploma in Electronics, with 5+ years in related work experience; flight test experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent work experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of direct related work experience is required.
  • Flight Test experience preferred.

  • Plans, documents aircraft Flight test telemetry frequencies licenses.
  • Actively participates during test flights to support TM room and TM Van.
  • Review, process and store Flight test data after each flight.
  • Support pre and post flight briefings.
  • Assist Data FTE in data reduction as required.
  • Prepare IAD screens to support Aircraft and TM room.
  • Maintain TM room and TM Van equipment.
  • Support off-site flight test as required with ~50% travel.
  • Troubleshoot and repair TM related connections including TM tower.

Job description

The Flight Test Telemetry Technician is responsible for maintaining Telemetry link between Flight test article and TM ground station.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plans, documents aircraft Flight test telemetry frequencies licenses for the Honda.
  • Actively participates during Test flights to support TM room and TM Van.
  • Review, process and Store Flight test data after each flight.
  • Support pre and post Flight briefings.
  • Assists Data FTE in data reduction as required
  • Prepare IAD’s screens to support Aircraft and TM room.
  • Maintain TM room and TM Van equipment.
  • Support Off-site flight test as required. Approx travel requirements 50%
  • Troubleshoot and repair TM related connections as required including TM tower.
Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure
  • Associate degree or Technical Diploma in Electronics.

Equivalent work experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • 5+ years Previous experience direct related work experience
  • Previous Flight Test experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of Systems & Avionics Flight test methods and FCC Regulations
  • Working knowledge of the Quasonix receiver and Antenna control unit.
  • Fire optics connection termination experience is preferred.
  • Skilled using IAD’s and engineering applications.
  • Understanding of S and C band frequency management
  • Good knowledge of Frequency modulation scheme
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels throughout and organization.
Physical Requirements
  • Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  • Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
  • Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  • Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
  • Effectively communicate in Business English language.
  • Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.

Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
