Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Flight Test Technician 3/4 for the Grand Sky facility in Emerado, ND. The role involves supporting developmental, experimental and production aircraft tasks, with duties spanning electrical, mechanical and instrumentation systems, performed to blueprints and technical orders.

Qualified candidates read schematics, interpret drawings, and can obtain/maintain Secret DoD clearance.

Qualifications

  • Able to perform moderate physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DoD Clearance within a reasonable time.

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Flight Test Technician 3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the Test and Evaluation Organization. This position will be supporting our Maintenance and Modification Facility located on site at Grand Sky, Emerado, ND.

Please note the selected candidate will start after funding confirmation.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Instructs, coordinates and performs the duties / functions of Flight Test personnel in area(s) of assignment.
  • Performs developmental, experimental and production aircraft maintenance, repair, modification, installation, and testing tasks in a field of specialization; electrical / electronic, mechanical or instrumentation.
  • Performs operations for installing, removing, maintaining, repairing or fabricating critical aircraft components, or electrical / electronic, mechanical or instrumentation systems.
  • Performs testing, rework and repair in various fields of specialization.
  • Applies shop theory and skills in accomplishing assigned tasks working from incomplete engineering, electronic data, blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, technical orders and written and verbal instructions.
  • Works from blueprints, engineering orders, schematics, repair manuals and other technical documents on aircraft electrical / electronic, mechanical, plumbing, and hydraulics, power plant, structures or instrumentation systems.
  • Performs drilling, reaming, fitting, assembly, trimming, riveting, splicing, insulating and other associated duties as assigned.
  • Performs electrical, mechanical or instrumentation maintenance, repair and testing in support of specific flight test projects.
  • Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains various types of complex aircraft equipment, components, devices or systems.
  • Performs modifications and adjustments as necessary.
  • Notifies lead personnel or supervision of any / all malfunctions, defects and damages of equipment, material and product.
  • Checks work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Performs Production Accountability duties associated with the processing, verification, quality auditing and inspection of assemblies, parts and tooling for which the individual has been delegated production accountability.
  • May be required to work in other fields incidental to, and in connection with completion of assignment. May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Required ability to be certified for a half & full face respirator
  • Adhere to all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines and regulations
  • Work and communicate over ambient noise
  • Work in a variety of work spaces/positions. Work spaces may include but are not limited to small, enclosed spaces, awkward, and elevated spaces. Positions may include bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, ascending/descending ladders, and/or working overhead.
  • Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends

We currently offer a 4/10 shift structure working Monday - Thursday 6:30am-5:00pm, with exposure to a wide variety of projects and a very friendly team environment. We are looking for self-motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented people to help us grow our services and develop team diversity.

This requisition may be filled as a level 3 or level 4 based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications Level 3:
  • High School diploma or GED and 4 years of related experience.
  • Related experience in one of more of the following but not limited to aircraft electrical systems, structures, composites, aircraft systems, and flightline operations.
  • Able to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, etc.
  • Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, working on ladders and overhead.
  • Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DoD Clearance within a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
  • Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends

  • Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, working on ladders and overhead.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DoD Clearance within a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance last investigated within the last 3 years.
  • Aircraft structures experience.
  • Avionics experience.
  • Familiarity with Maintenance Data Collection systems (MES and MMT.)
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

Primary Level Salary Range: $57,500.00 - $95,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $68,300.00 - $113,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
