Job summary

Redwire Defense Tech is seeking a Lead Flight Test Engineer in San Luis Obispo, CA to plan and execute component, subsystem, and system/aircraft tests. You will lead small cross-functional teams and work closely with customers to diagnose field issues.

The role requires a B.S. in flight/UAV engineering, 6+ years of test experience at multiple levels, 4+ years in aircraft/UAV testing, and the ability to travel up to 25%. Salary ranges from $163,000 to $203,000 with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• B.S. in flight/UAV engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of formal test experience at component, subsystem, and system level.
• 4+ years of aircraft/UAV test experience.
• Experience generating formal test plans and reports.
• Test planning, field equipment deployment, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Generate test plans from design and test requirements.
• Evaluate testing standards and incorporate into plans.
• Lead tests and coordinate personnel to achieve goals.
• Provide detailed feedback to design activities.
• Assist other functions in resolution of issues.
• Communicate plans and status to leadership.
• Travel up to 25% to other locations.
