Job summary

Mach Industries in Huntington Beach, CA, is hiring a Test Instrumentation Engineer to own external data capture architecture for flight tests across our autonomous UAS platforms. You will manage high-speed video, drone footage, external sensors, and precise time synchronization with vehicle telemetry.

This hands-on field role requires designing, deploying, and validating multi-source capture systems, supporting the full test lifecycle from planning to post-test handoff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline or hands-on experience.
• 3+ years in flight test instrumentation or live-test operations.
• Experience with high-speed video systems or drone capture in outdoor environments.
• Knowledge of time synchronization across multiple data sources.
• Experience correlating external capture data with telemetry or logs.
• Ability to set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot capture equipment in the field.
• Strong attention to detail and data traceability.
• Willingness to travel for multi-day field deployments.
• Export-control and security compliance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deploy external data capture systems for flight tests including high-speed cameras and drone footage.
• Design and maintain time-sync architecture across capture systems and vehicle telemetry.
• Align video, sensor, and instrumentation outputs with ground-control telemetry logs.
• Support full test workflow from readiness reviews to post-test handoff.
• Coordinate with flight operations, manufacturing, and vendors to support test objectives.
• Capture safety-critical events and ensure reliable datasets for analysis.
• Build deployment-ready field kits with cameras, mounts, sync hardware, storage, and power.
• Organize and label datasets for quick engineering analysis.
• Improve capture procedures and documentation based on field experience.
• Support multi-day field deployments at private and DoD ranges.
