Job summary

Lumicity is seeking a Sr. Flight Test Engineer to lead experimental flight test programs and coordinate instrumentation and data analysis for next-gen aerospace systems.

You will develop test plans, support ground and flight operations, and collaborate with engineering and flight teams to advance certification efforts under Part 23. Travel to test locations will be required, and hands-on leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field (M.S. preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in experimental flight test engineering.
• Hands-on experience supporting ground testing and flight test operations.
• Experience with aircraft instrumentation, data acquisition, test data reduction, and analysis.
• Strong understanding of aerodynamics, aircraft stability & control, flight mechanics, and systems performance.
• Working knowledge of FAA regulations and certification requirements under Part 23.

Responsibilities

• Support experimental aircraft ground and flight test programs.
• Develop flight and ground test plans, procedures, test cards, and post-test documentation.
• Lead and/or support test execution, data collection, analysis, and technical reporting.
• Support flight safety and risk management: hazard identification, risk mitigation, and safety reviews.
• Support the development and installation of aircraft instrumentation.
• Assist with day-to-day aircraft operations, logistics, and maintenance coordination alongside A&P mechanics and technical teams.
• Support flight test facilities, ground support equipment, and operational readiness.
• Frequent travel to a nearby flight test location.

• Experience working with FAA representatives, DARs, or certification authorities.
• Experience in aircraft development or test programs that achieved FAA Part 23 certification.
• Current FAA Third-Class Medical Certificate (Class III).
• Formal military or civilian pilot training or equivalent flight operations experience.
