Flight Software Verification Engineer (Orion GNCP)

Location: Denver, Colorado (Waterton Facility, Littleton)
Work Schedule: Full-Time | Hybrid Minimum 3 Days Per Week Onsite
Salary Range: $95,000$130,000 annually, depending on experience, education, skills, and qualifications
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship required
Program: Orion
Start: Immediate
Period of Performance: Current contract POP through 31 July 2027, with extensions probable through 2028

Aegis Aerospace is seeking a Flight Software Verification Engineer to support the Orion spacecraft and NASA's Artemis missions. This position will work alongside NASA and Lockheed Martin Guidance, Navigation, Controls, and Propulsion (GNCP) engineers and software developers to verify Orion flight software and ensure flight requirements are successfully validated through final run-for-record.

The selected engineer will join a highly collaborative flight software team supporting one of NASA's flagship human-spaceflight programs. The role will focus on software verification, requirements-based testing, test execution, analysis, and documentation while incorporating lessons learned from previous Orion missions to improve flight software verification processes and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

I would translate their material into responsibilities such as:

  • Perform verification of Orion Guidance, Navigation, Controls, and Propulsion flight software requirements.
  • Take ownership of assigned flight-software requirements from verification planning and test development through execution and final run-for-record.
  • Develop and execute software verification activities using Python-based test environments and tools.
  • Analyze test results, investigate anomalies, and document verification results.
  • Work within Linux-based development and verification environments.
  • Use MATLAB and related engineering tools to support analysis and verification activities.
  • Collaborate closely with NASA, Lockheed Martin, GNCP, and flight software engineering teams.
  • Support continuous improvement of Orion flight software development and verification processes using lessons learned from previous missions.
  • Maintain detailed, traceable verification documentation in support of mission and program requirements.
  • Independently manage assigned verification activities while contributing to a highly collaborative engineering team.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Previous experience performing software verification, validation, integration, or test.
  • Advanced proficiency with Python, particularly for software test and verification applications.
  • Working knowledge of Linux environments.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB.
  • Ability to interpret and verify technical/software requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, traceable verification results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned technical work.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Orion spacecraft experience.
  • Previous Orion flight software verification experience.
  • Flight software or simulation software development/test experience.
  • Knowledge of Guidance, Navigation, Controls, and Propulsion (GNCP) systems.
  • Experience supporting NASA human-spaceflight programs or other safety/mission-critical aerospace systems.
  • Working knowledge of C++.
  • Experience with IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS or similar requirements-management tools.
  • Experience with requirements-based verification and formal run-for-record testing.
Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $95,000$130,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, education, technical qualifications, specialized skills, and overall alignment with the requirements of the position.
