Job summary

Butler America Aerospace, LLC in Orlando, FL is seeking a Flight Simulator Hardware Engineer to drive hardware design for power and control systems, motion platforms, and avionics interfaces within the ACS program. You will oversee end-to-end integration with building infrastructure and collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, and suppliers to meet project milestones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • Experience developing flight simulation hardware solutions.
  • Active development of new mechanical design engineering principles and industry practices.
  • Issuing formal design checking approvals or non-conformance reports via PLM tools.
  • CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs/components/sub-assemblies
  • HW architectural layouts between systems/subsystems
  • Deriving hardware/sub-tier requirements from customer requirements
  • Building BOMs and creating parts/assemblies/design docs
  • Support cross-functional teams through technical reviews (SRR/PDR/CDR/TRR)
  • Apply hardware engineering processes in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete hardware design and development for power/control systems, motion platforms, visuals, avionics interfaces.
  • Lead end-to-end integration of simulator hardware with building infrastructure (HVAC, electrical, grounding, fire/smoke monitoring).
  • Lead other hardware engineers and coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and suppliers to meet schedules and objectives.

Flight Simulator Hardware Engineer Air & Commercial Solutions (ACS) Program

Location: Orlando, FL
Job ID: #73026
Pay Range: $50-70 ph (W2)
Duration: 6 - 12 mos

  • * Complete hardware design and development activities for power and control systems, motion platform integration, visual display systems, avionics interfaces, and ancillary equipment.
  • * Manage end to end integration of the new simulator hardware with the existing building infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical distribution, grounding, and fire and smoke monitoring systems.
  • * Lead other Hardware Engineers that synchronizes engineering, procurement, production planning, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure design is completed as scheduled. Develop innovative solutions to a range of complex problems that are consistent with the program objectives.
Qualifications (BQs)
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in developing flight simulation hardware solutions.
  • Active development of new mechanical design engineering principles and full demonstrated knowledge of industry practices and related disciplines
  • Issuing formal design checking approvals or non-conformance reports through the PLM tool.
  • Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles
  • Developing and generating HW architectural layouts for system and lower level interfaces between systems and subsystems
  • Deriving Hardware and sub tier requirements from customer requirements
  • Building BOMs, creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to support cross-functional teams through major technical reviews throughout the acquisition lifecycle (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
  • Experience applying Hardware Engineering processes in an Agile environment.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with Windchill, Creo, Windchill and/or Catia, Zuken and Cameo.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and demonstrated perform complex system-level tolerance analysis.
  • Knowledge of generating hardware architecture, high level interconnects, and deriving requirements from customer and system level flow downs.
  • Prior experience in the development, integration, and deployment of flight training systems.
  • Leveraged Agile tenets in the execution of the development of software intensive systems, inclusive of driving development of Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Hardware, and Test Engineering work products.
  • Experience adapting hardware designs to existing climate control systems, ensuring temperature/humidity stability for avionics and motion platforms.
  • Experience interfacing with the facility's existing fire detection and suppression infrastructure
  • Product design experience in the context of modular open systems architectures (e.g. SOA).
  • Experience with Rotary and/or Fixed Wing Aircraft
  • Experience with full motion simulators.
