Job summary

LifeMed Alaska, LLC seeks a Flight Paramedic to join our air medical transport teams across Alaska. You will deliver direct patient care in fixed‑wing aircraft, helicopters, and ground transport, following established protocols and medical director guidelines.

You’ll work closely with Flight Nurses to manage extreme cases in rural and remote settings, supporting patients during transfers to tertiary care centers while upholding LifeMed Alaska’s commitment to patient safety and high‑quality care.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years Paramedic experience, preferably in a progressive 911 system with high acuity patient volume.
• 2 years critical care experience highly preferred.
• Flight experience desired.
• Alaska MICP license within 90 days of hire; NREMT-P required to obtain MICP.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required.
• Valid driver's license and passport.
• NRP certification within 3 months of hire; trauma course within 12 months; Alaska Medevac Course during orientation; FC-P testing within 6 months and FC-P within 12 months.

Position Description

With a workforce of over 100 in communities from Alaska’s Aluetian Islands, Yukon Kuskokwim Delta, Coastal South East and Interior Alaska, we give the best air medical crews in the state – if not the country – the opportunity to support critical care patients during transports from rural Alaska to tertiary care centers across the state, major cities in the Lower 48, and internationally.

LifeMed Alaska’s Flight Paramedics are responsible for providing direct patient care to patients with complex and involved care needs outside the hospital setting. Flight Paramedics provide care in fixed wing aircraft, ground ambulance, and helicopter. They must always maintain a safe, therapeutic and organized environment and demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care. All duties and care provided will be performed in accordance with LifeMed Alaska policies and protocols. All care delivered during transport will be implemented using written treatment protocols approved by the Medical Director, treatment guidelines received from on-line medical control, and sound clinical judgement.

Transport may take the crew to remote villages, larger cities and hospitals within Alaska, or facilities in the Lower 48. Requirements

Education and Experience

• Minimum three (3) years’ Paramedic experience, preferably in a progressive 911 emergency response system with consistent, high acuity patient volume
• Two (2) years critical care experience highly preferred
• Previous flight experience desired

Licensure

• Current State of Alaska MICP within 90 days of hire; NREMT-P is required to obtain MICP, and will be verified upon hire
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification required
• Current and valid Drivers License and Passport required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be successfully completed within 3 months of hire; approved trauma course within 12 months of hire; successful completion of the Alaska State Medevac Course during orientation; must test for FC-P within 6 months of hire and obtain FC-P within 12 months of hire.

Other Qualifications

Must be able to effectively demonstrate mastery in the use of monitoring and treatment equipment, including cardiac monitor/pacer/defibrillator, IVAC IV pumps, I-Stat portable blood gas analyzers, transport ventilators, etc. Will maintain skills such as endotracheal intubation, needle thoracotomy, chest tube placement, 12-lead EKG interpretation, and multiple IV drip administration. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment. Must maintain ability to pass repeat background checks and ability to possess an identification badge issued by the base location airport security.
