Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. is building the infrastructure to power and connect the orbital economy from Low Earth Orbit. We are seeking an engineer to own a mechanism subsystem from concept through flight, balancing mass, strength, and life requirements while validating with test data.

You will work closely with manufacturing on the floor, iterate designs rapidly, and support launch operations and refurbishment planning. This role requires a Mechanical/Aerospace degree and hands-on hardware experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 1+ years designing mechanisms for flight hardware.
  • Experience turning designs into physical hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of structural mechanics and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Own your mechanism subsystem from concept through design, analysis, test, and flight.
  • Drive structural and kinematic design for minimum mass while meeting life requirements.
  • Balance performance, manufacturability, cost, and schedule in every design decision.
  • Perform analysis — hand calculations, FEA, tolerance stack-ups — and validate with test data.
  • Define and execute qualification and acceptance test campaigns; write procedures and criteria.
  • Develop and maintain drawings, models, and release documentation.
  • Work on the factory floor with manufacturing to iterate quickly and resolve build issues.
