Overview
Insight Global is seeking a Flight Loads Engineer to join one of our large DoD customers out of the St. Louis area. This position does require being onsite 5 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Define or derive Loads & Dynamics requirements and ensure requirements traceability and quality from the system level to component level
- Develop and analyze vehicle-level loads and dynamics models (including finite element models) using multidisciplinary model data (aero, mass properties, propulsion, etc.)
- Correlate models loads and dynamics models to test results
- Collaborate with the airframe & subsystems design and analysis engineers to generate integrated aero and structural models for flight vehicle analysis
- Develop flight test and ground test plans
- Perform wind tunnel, ground and/or flight test programs, by the development of test requirements, providing data for pre-test analysis, monitor, testing, data analysis and documenting results in order to support design and verification of vehicle and components
- Define allowable flight envelopes and operational limits
- Review and approve airframe and subsystems hardware packages for flight worthiness and to ensure the air vehicle meets the service environment
- Provide data to support the definition and documentation of structural design requirements for the service life of the product, to ensure company, customer and regulatory requirements are met
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Required Skills
- Strong background in fixed-wing aircraft aerodynamics
- Experience with loads flight or wind tunnel testing
- Experience leading projects, planning work and guiding other engineers
- Working experience with higher-level programming language (Matlab, python, Fortran, etc.)
Preferred Skills
- Loads development experience in loads for fixed-wing aircraft
- Flight test and ground test leadership experience
- Experience leading teams and/or projects
- Experience in NASTRAN (SOL 144) or Aeroelastic loads modeling
Pay range and compensation package
Compensation: $65/hr to $71/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
