Job summary

EraDrive, Inc. seeks a low-level embedded software engineer to own the core firmware for Era-Node, the flight autonomy module. You will define the firmware architecture and implement zero-to-one software that interfaces star trackers and compute systems in a radiation-prone space environment.

You will write bare-metal and RTOS-based C/C++ code, optimize data pipelines, and develop robust drivers and timing systems. Collaboration with payload hardware and autonomy teams is essential.

Qualifications

• In-depth embedded software experience for custom hardware from bring-up to deployment.
• Proficiency in bare-metal and RTOS-based C/C++ development.
• Experience with space/high-reliability applications and radiation considerations.
• Strong understanding of hardware-software interfaces and timing constraints.
• Hands-on debugging with JTAG/SWD and lab instruments.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end embedded software architecture for Era-Node, developing bare-metal and RTOS firmware in C/C++.
• Optimize low-level compute pipelines and memory access patterns to maximize GNC/AI performance.
• Write and optimize hardware drivers for image sensors, compute modules, and memory devices.
• Develop deterministic state machines and timing logic across multiple sensors and compute nodes.
• Implement robust serial communications stacks (RS-422, SpaceWire, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART).
• Incorporate fault tolerance and radiation mitigation (watchdogs, scrubbing, SEU handling).
• Lead board bring-up using JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Architect microsecond-precise software timing and hardware triggering for data capture.
• Develop HIL test platforms integrating flight computers and sensors.
