Qualifications

  • Education: HS diploma or GED; or 6–12 months manufacturing experience or equivalent.
  • Must read and interpret English language documents and communicate in English.
  • Mathematical skills to perform arithmetic with whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and follow written or schedule instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Review specs such as job orders, print master, mounter proof, and samples.
  • Determine a setup plan and direct press helper in setup duties.
  • Help Flowman remove and install sleeves and anilox.
  • Set impressions on printing plates and adjust color-to-color register.
  • Inspect initial setup samples for color, register, impression, location, and print quality.
  • Perform and document required quality checks and troubleshoot issues.
  • Assist Flowman with unloading rolls and palletizing.
  • Adjust press and supervise team to maximize output, quality, and safety.
  • Add ink to totes as needed.
  • Monitor production information and complete related paperwork.

Job Description
  • SUMMARY: Set up and operate a printing press that prints designs in multiple colors on rolls of polyethylene film. Must have a thorough knowledge of the essential duties and responsibilities of the Press Helper and the Flowman (see attachment), as well as those listed below for the Press Operator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review specs such as job orders, print master, mounter proof, and samples.
  • Determine a setup plan and direct press helper in setup duties such as: cleaning print stations, correcting ink colors and viscosities, obtaining materials and supplies.
  • Help Flowman remove and install sleeves and anilox.
  • Set impressions on printing plates and adjust color-to-color register.
  • Inspect initial setup samples for color, register, impression, location, overall print quality, and make any necessary adjustments.
  • Make final adjustments, perform and document all required quality checks.
  • Inspect samples from each roll, perform all quality checks, troubleshoot, and correct all problems.
  • Help Flowman unload rolls from rewind, weigh, posts, label, and palletize.
  • Adjust press and supervise Press Helper and Flowman to achieve maximum outputs, quality, and safety.
  • Add ink to totes as needed.
  • Monitor and calculate production information. Fill out and audit related paperwork such as: Accumulation sheet, production sheet, and job order.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Must be able to work twelve (12) hour shifts.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or Six to twelve months of manufacturing experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to read and interpret English language documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, company handbook, and procedure manuals. Must be able to speak and write in English effectively when presenting information to supervisors and fellow employees.
  • Mathematical Skills required to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • While performing the duties required of this position, the employee is constantly required to stand for up to 12 hours, walk, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee will occasionally be required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds or more than fifty (50) pounds with assistance or proper equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This role requires the employee to concentrate for long periods of time.
ENVIRONMENT:
  • The work environment includes moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
  • There is the possibility the employee will occasionally be exposed to high precarious places, hazardous chemicals, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be considered loud.
  • The temperature is not completely controlled and can be considered to be related to seasonal conditions.
