The position emphasizes meeting production goals, setup and operation of printing presses, and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with strict SOPs and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude and math skills.
  • Experience with wide-web flexographic printing.
  • Experience with Uteco, W&H, Bobst, PCMC, or F&K presses.
  • Understanding of color charts and sample checks.
  • Knowledge of color laydown and overprint.
  • Ability to read and interpret docket information.
  • Analytical thinking for print quality.
  • Experience operating a printing press.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Meet quality and production goals.
  • Load, position and adjust unprinted materials on equipment.
  • Set up and operate the press; verify job against samples.

  • We are looking for a Press Operator to join our team. The hours for this position will be 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday
Job Summary

The press operator produces and converts various raw materials into finished printed products. The press department is responsible for meeting customer requirements while adhering to company standards for quality and job parameters.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • This position is responsible for meeting both quality and production goals.
  • Loads, positions, and adjusts un-printed materials on equipment.
  • Set up and operate the press which includes analysis of a printed sample provided to ensure the job being produced is correct.
  • Repositions printing plates, adjust pressure rolls, or otherwise adjust machines to improve print quality.
  • Examines job orders to determine details such as quantities to be printed, production times, stock specifications, colors, and color sequences.
  • Monitors the printing process in order to maintain specified operating levels and to detect malfunctions; make any necessary adjustments.
  • Operates equipment at the required speed to ensure proper ink coverage, alignment, and registration.
  • Assist press helper in loading rolls of raw material and unloading rolls of finished product.
  • Work together with Supervisor/Manager to reduce product waste.
  • Complete jobs within scheduled timeframes, so as to meet press production goals.
  • Complies with company and job-specific SOPs.
    • SOPs may cover the areas of (but are not limited to)
      • Employee Health and Safety
      • SQF (Safe Quality Food packager) and GMP (good manufacturing procedures) focused on eliminating contaminants in all packaging manufactured.
      • SGP (Sustainable Green Printer) environmental regulatory procedures and SOPs
  • Other duties as needed including housekeeping in the press and mounting area.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical aptitude/math skills
  • Previous wide-web flexographic experience
  • Experience with Uteco, W&H, Bobst, PCMC, or F&K printing presses
  • Understanding of color charts – the ability to check samples
  • Understanding color laydown and overprint
  • Read and understand docket information
  • Analytical ability
  • Operation of a printing press
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain the confidentiality of information to company and Federal standards.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Must be dependable and work within company conduct standards; consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance.
Physical Demands
  • Moving/Carrying ability, 50 lbs. repetitively/frequently; 70 lbs. intermittently for up to 5 ft.
  • Lifting ability; up to 50 lbs. intermittently
  • Standing for extended periods (consistently – 70-80%)
  • Bending, twisting, and reaching (intermittently -60-70%)
  • Push/pull of up to 100 lbs. (occasionally - 20-30%)
  • Extensive use of hands and fingers
  • Extensive time on feet, walking/ standing
  • Use of step ladders, (if needed)
Working Conditions
  • Working 10-hour shifts 4x a week
  • Working around solvent/ink/glue fumes/other solvents used in printing manufacturing.
  • Work in tight places at random times.
