Job summary

Ellicott School District 22 seeks a Substitute Teacher to cover classes when the regular teacher is absent. The position is on an as-needed basis with a daily rate of $150. The substitute may work in Pre-school through High School, reporting to the building principal and head secretary.

The role requires following lesson plans, maintaining a conducive learning environment, and ensuring student safety and orderly conduct throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Requires a CDE Substitute license issued for Ellicott School District or a three-year CDE Substitute license.
• Annual recertification of the district's Guest Teacher Orientation.
• Basic office skills and computer skills in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work on an as-needed basis, sometimes on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Report to the building secretary upon arrival at the school district each morning.
• Follow the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which you are assigned.
• Follow the teacher's daily lesson plan and leave detailed notes for the teacher about the day.
• Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity and interests.
• Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Remain at school during the entire day unless excused by the principal or designated official.
• Remain in the classroom at all times and never leave students unattended.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the building principal or their designated official.
• Carry out the district's vision, mission, and values to the best of your ability.
