Job summary

BrightBee is partnering with Forest Hills Public Schools to hire Substitute School Bus Drivers in Grand Rapids, MI. You’ll transport students safely to school, events, and activities, while greeting and assisting them along the way. This substitute role offers flexibility and meaningful community impact.

Starting pay is $22.66/hour. Applicants must meet state requirements, hold a Michigan CDL with school bus endorsements, and pass background checks and tests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Excellent driving record with no at-fault accidents or moving violations within the last five years.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to meet state requirements for school bus driving.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school, athletic events, and activities.
• Complete pre-trip inspections to ensure bus safety.
• Follow routes, schedules, and authorized bus stops.
• Operate a variety of school buses as needed.
• Follow Michigan traffic laws and school transportation regulations.
• Assist students as they board and exit the bus.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment on board.
• Communicate professionally with parents, staff, and dispatchers.
• Complete required reports and documentation.
• Participate in safety training and ongoing professional development.
