VCA is seeking an experienced Temporary Relief Veterinary Assistant/Technician to support our hospital on rotating shifts. The ideal candidate works independently yet integrates quickly with a proven team, handling patient care, imaging, anesthesia, and front-desk support with professionalism.

Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians, documenting histories, restraining patients with low-stress methods, and maintaining equipment and records in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Previous professional experience as a Veterinary Assistant required.
• Comfortable working independently in unfamiliar hospital environments.
• Competency with venipuncture, lab work, restraint, radiographs, and surgical support.
• Experience assisting with anesthesia and surgical patient care.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with outpatient appointments and routine patient care.
• Obtain patient histories, weights, temperatures, and vital parameters.
• Restrain and handle patients using Fear Free and low-stress techniques.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas between appointments.
• Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery.
• Maintain clean, stocked treatment, exam, surgery, and lab areas.
