Job summary

Johnston Public Schools is seeking qualified Substitute Teachers for the 2026–2027 school year. The role supports instruction across elementary, middle, and high school levels and requires flexibility to adapt to different classrooms.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching certification or eligibility to obtain one
• Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and follow instructional plans

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher across various grade levels and subject areas
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment
• Manage student behavior in accordance with district policies and procedures
• Take attendance and maintain accurate records of student participation
• Communicate effectively with school staff and administration
• Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student progress and any notable issues
