Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Patient Sitter for PRN daytime coverage to support nursing staff in delivering safe patient care. The role emphasizes effective communication, observation, and timely reporting to licensed nurses, ensuring patient safety and adherence to unit protocols.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, 1 year of direct patient care experience or nursing student status with clinical rotations, and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of direct patient care experience or nursing student with at least one clinical rotation.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.
• Must be able to perform ADLs within unit scope and under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Assist with observation and reporting to ensure patient safety.
• Maintain patient safety through suicidal precautions and 15-minute monitoring.
• Document care activities and participate in multidisciplinary team communications.
