Job summary

Sandwich Montessori School in Cape Cod, MA seeks reliable Substitute Teachers to step into classrooms when regular staff are absent. Part-Time / As Needed with pay range $19–$23 per hour; Montessori experience not required.

You will follow established routines, support children's independence and safety, collaborate with teachers, and help maintain a calm classroom. Massachusetts EEC certification is preferred but not required; all applicants who enjoy working with children are encouraged to

Qualifications

Experience working with children in school, childcare, camp, tutoring, or similar setting.
Strong communication skills and a professional, team-oriented attitude.
Ability to follow classroom routines and teacher directions.
Genuine interest in working with children.
Massachusetts EEC certification is preferred but not required.
Montessori experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Step into an established classroom and follow the teacher's daily plans and routines.
Work directly with children throughout the school day.
Support children's independence, engagement, and positive interactions.
Help maintain a calm, safe, and organized classroom environment.
Assist with classroom activities, transitions, outdoor time, meals, rest, and other daily routines.
Model respectful and appropriate interactions with children.
Collaborate with teachers and other members of the classroom team.
Follow school policies and health and safety procedures.
