Job summary

Burlington Stores, Inc. is hiring a Shortage Control Associate to help maintain a secure shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service.

You will monitor entrances, greet customers, and report theft or suspicious activity to the Manager on Duty, supporting shortage reduction programs and safety training for associates. The role requires a confident, energetic demeanor, the ability to work in a fast-paced retail setting, and flexibility to cover nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or Operations is preferred.
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to visually monitor store environment.
• Maintain confidentiality is required.
• Ability to review, analyze and comprehend business trends.
• Exhibit a positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting.
• Work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment with detailed focus and disciplined decision making.
• Excellent communication with customers and co-workers.
• Excellent leadership skills that support fostering productive business relationships.
• Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule; including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the entrance for the entire duration of every shift with a focus on reducing opportunities for theft, shoplifting, and other dishonest activities.
• Greet every customer entering or exiting the store with a warm smile and a loud, friendly greeting, promoting a sense of control and security.
• Identify and report theft incidents and/or suspicious subjects to the Manager on Duty.
• Support and guide associates on shortage reduction programs and processes; role-model safety as a top priority.
• Partner with store and field leadership to keep the store secure and report concerns promptly.
