Job summary

TEACH-LA is hiring a Substitute Associate Teacher to support preschool-aged children under supervision, assisting in lesson planning, supervision, and meals in a dynamic early childhood setting. The role emphasizes safe, healthy environments and collaboration with teachers.

Qualified candidates have 12+ ECE/CD units (AA degree preferred), 6–12 months of experience with preschoolers, and CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• 12 completed ECE/CD units required (AA degree or higher preferred).
• Minimum 6 months–1 year experience with preschool children (Head Start experience a plus).
• Strong understanding of child development and classroom management.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Valid CA Driver’s License & proof of insurance or reliable transportation.
• DOJ fingerprint clearance (Livescan with CA Community Care Licensing).
• Bilingual skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Share teaching duties with a Teacher I or II.
• Supervise children in indoor/outdoor settings.
• Prepare snacks/meals & maintain clean food areas.
• Promote healthy hygiene habits (including diapering as needed).
• Assist in lesson planning & developmental assessments.
• Support teacher-parent conferences & occasional home visits.
• Maintain records (attendance, progress, assessments).
• Set up classrooms & organize materials.
• Travel to various school locations (15 mile radius).
