Job summary

Sunstates Security is hiring Flex Security Officers in the Fort Wayne, IN area. All days and shifts available, pay rate $17.00/hr with weekly pay.

You will be trained at various posts to provide uninterrupted service for our clients and ensure safety across sites. As a Flex Officer, you will handle post assignments, schedule variability, and rapid response to staffing needs, while upholding high professional standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
• 1 year security experience preferred.
• Experience with MS Outlook and Word preferred.
• 1+ years in a customer service role.
• Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control access at entry points while providing professional customer service.
• Operate and monitor security systems including CCTV, access control, phones and alarm panels.
• Perform shift pass-downs with key accountability, equipment checks, and log reviews.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation (daily activity, visitor, contractor, logs) using standard logs.
• Conduct security inspections and patrols, report hazards and issues.
• Ensure doors and restricted areas are secure per site procedures.
• Report incidents and maintenance issues with detailed notes and photos when applicable.

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must have good communication skills.
• 1 year Security experience is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft outlook and word preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in a customer service role.
• Good customer service skills and professional appearance.
• Monitor and control access at the employee entrance while providing professional customer service to employees, visitors, and contractors.
• Operate and monitor security systems, including CCTV cameras, access control systems, telephones, and alarm panels to maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Perform shift pass-down procedures, including key accountability, equipment checks, activity log reviews, and communication of critical site information.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation, including daily activity reports, visitor logs, contractor logs, package logs, and key control logs using TrackTik.
• Conduct regular security inspections and patrols to identify and report safety hazards, unsecured areas, suspicious activity, and facility concerns.
• Verify that doors, stairwells, entry points, and restricted areas are secure and operating according to site procedures.
• Document and report incidents, maintenance issues, water leaks, lighting outages, and security concerns with detailed notes and supporting photographs when appropriate.
• Follow facility opening and closing procedures, including scheduled lock and unlock activities and access control protocols.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, employees, and visitors while responding professionally to requests, questions, and security-related situations.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to all company policies, reporting standards, safety requirements, and site‑specific security procedures.
• Must be able to work various shifts, days, weekends, and holidays.

Flex Officer Explanation

The Flex Officer position is crucial to our company’s operational and financial success. The flex officer provides trained, competent support by working shifts which become open due to illness, call‑offs, weather, vacation, or other causes. This enables Sunstates to provide continual, uninterrupted service to our customers, while also protecting the health and work balance of our personnel.

Scheduling Expectations

The Scheduling Parameters And Expectations For a Flex Officer Are Different From Those Of An Employee Assigned To a Fixed Post. As a Flex

• You will be trained at various posts and /or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment.
• Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need.
• You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs.
• Some of your shifts will be scheduled in advance and posted with the new week’s schedule. Sometimes you will be called with short notice and asked to come in to cover for someone who is unable to work their shift.
• You are expected to work any shift for which you are scheduled in advance which falls within the availability described on this sheet. If you know you will be unavailable on an upcoming date or time that would normally fall within your availability described on this sheet, you must communicate this with your supervisor, so they know not to schedule you.

For short-notice call-ins, you are expected to work at least 80% of the shifts for which you are called. If you refuse more than 20% of shifts for which you are called in, this could negatively impact your employment status with the company.

A Security Officer may perform a multitude of duties as specified by the Post Orders and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Security Officer will read and become extremely knowledgeable of Post Orders and SOP and will be able to act quickly and efficiently according to such directives.
