Overview

Flex Clerks have the opportunity to learn about and participate in multiple departments. They typically balance cashiering with work in the grocery and produce departments, providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities include stocking and rotating grocery, dairy, frozen, and bulk items, building and maintaining produce displays, and assisting other departments such as the Deli.

Compensation Details

Starting Wage Range: $21.01 - $21.11/hour, depending on experience. Full Wage Range: $21.01 - $26.15/hour.

Main Job Responsibilities

1. Provide excellent, professional customer service.
2. Stock and rotate grocery, dairy, frozen, and bulk products.
3. Face grocery, dairy, and frozen aisles.
4. Maintain organization and order of back-stock products.
5. Build and maintain produce displays; rotate produce in back stock and sales floor.
6. Update price changes and signage.
7. Ensure department sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are met.
8. Operate all equipment according to PCC standards.
9. Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the store.
10. Assist with bagging groceries and providing carryout service.
11. Serve as the point of contact for special orders and grocery questions.
12. Work on DSD orders when assigned.
13. Scan and process items accurately at the register, handle payments per PCC standards.
14. Perform basic math and proficiency at 10-key.
15. Effectively communicate PCC’s membership and programs.
16. Handle merchandise returns.
17. Bag groceries following PCC guidelines.
18. Maintain an orderly appearance at the register.
19. Assist other departments as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service.
2. Availability to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Dependability, organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
5. Basic math skills and proficiency at 10-key.
6. Attention to detail and multitasking skills.
7. Previous retail or customer service experience preferred; background in cashiering or grocery industry is a plus.
8. Physical ability to stand, bend, twist, and lift 10-40 lbs regularly.
9. Current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health required.
10. Must be at least 18 years old.
